Liberal members of the PEI Legislature Public Accounts Committee tried to block the investigation of Immigrant Scam today. The Liberal administration scandal and alleged kickbacks to the Liberal Party could be $500 million making it the largest Canadian political scandal and fraud in history.

It may have appeared suspicious, but the moving of files relating to the provincial nominee program was nothing more than normal operating procedure, say government officials.

Last Friday, a substantial number of files connected to applicants who applied to the program were moved in an unmarked van from the PEI Business Development office in Charlottetown to a government-owned storage facility in the West Royalty Industrial Park.

The fees charged to both the investors and the immigrants in the PNP program amount to gouging, profiteering and possibly fraud. Some investors are paying 88% of the investment in fees.

I have personal experience raising private and public (stock market) money in amounts up to $5 million. I have never seen nor would I pay fees like these. With a simple request, lawyers will chop 25% of the fees right off the top since they are usually negotiable. Instead they are tripling their fees because the Liberal government made the rules. The PNP fees are like lambs being led to the slaughter.

Every second of every day Prince Edward Island’s debt rises by $2.
If you think that’s alarming do the math for a week.  Figures provided by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) indicate the provincial government’s weekly debt totals $1,158,773.

Erin McGrath-Gaudet, CFIB’s policy analyst for P.E.I., says the provincial debt is a ticking time bomb.

Government MLA Pat Murphy, who has publicly admitted to receiving money for his business through the Provincial Nominee Program, wants the public accounts committee to decide whether he should refrain from discussion about the program in committee.

Pay Murphy, Liberal MLA received PNP funds, can he stay and discuss PNP scandal?

Murphy brought it up when the controversial program aimed at connecting immigrant money to P.E.I. businesses came up for debate during a meeting of public accounts Tuesday.

Investor program sparks hot debate

The immigrant investment program that connected foreign money to Island businesses was once again a topic of heated debate at public accounts Tuesday as committee members argued whether they should investigate the program or leave it up to the auditor general.

Opposition members of the public accounts committee want the committee to probe the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), but government MLAs remain hesitant, citing the audit currently underway by the Island’s auditor general.
