Bicycle paths, the Cynthia Dunsford cause of the month

One of PEI’s most well-known social and Big-L Liberals Cynthia Dunsford is about to break our hearts again.

She’s supporting bicycle paths on PEI in her new blog post Coming Soon to PEI?? (See end note)

Cynthia Dunsford, our gal Friday on social issues lost in space?

Cynthia was a great pre-2007 election supporter of “cosmetic pesticides” an oxymoron like military intelligence and reform of the Disability Support Program. She held forth at every opportunity on what she would do if elected, at the Farmer’s Market, in the street, in the stores. Cyn was our gal Friday – one of us amongst the suits.

T. S. Elliot said the world didn’t end with a bang but a whimper. Poor Cyn whimpered out of the pesticides deal. “I can’t be everything to everybody,” she was heard to say over and over until we got bored.

Chris LeClair, Ghiz's left hand man and the brains behind the Premier?

“How did we fail you?” she asked me at Casa Mia’s one day this year trying to smooth over the hatchet job Chris LeClair of the Premier’s Office had done on Disability Reform.

“You don’t know how much women have suffered!” was her only comeback on the fact that Ghiz promised to put the $1 million back in and to include seniors in the DSP. Strains of “No Body Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen” by Paul Robson were playing in my head. It was hard to take her seriously but I did want to believe, like everyone who has ever been betrayed before.

Cyn, to watch you squirm in your seat at those Public Accounts Committee hearings as you, you, you try to stall the truth on the Liberal Immigrant Scam. It’s enough to make one retch or laugh uproariously. Another hot head reformer sells out for the salary, pension and some PNP units for you and your family. Say it ain’t so Cyn. Say it ain’t so.

And now, reaching for a new achievable goal, Cyn is coming out of the closet in support of bicycle paths. Please Cyn, leave it alone. We can’t have our hearts broken again.

End note: Cynthia Dunsford is a part of Queen Street Commons and eclectic group of social media entrepreneurs where my son Will rented space. Correct me if I’m wrong but Rob Paterson, Dan James of SilverOrange, and Cynthia were founding members.

They have a cool, but not accessible office (that should have put my antennae up) available at reasonable rates. They seem like a cool group and Rob was certainly helpful in getting my water wings in social media activism.

This background is a prelude to my comment that Cynthia has also abandoned the spirit of social media. The site listed above does not allow comments. That would put it in what I call the Fascist Internet, sites that spew information without dialogue, like the cowardly and vitriolic “Prince Edward Island Political Observer.” Closed anonymous sites are for cowards. Cyn is one step away with a signed but closed blog, in this writer’s humble opinion. Cyn come back to the fold. You won’t like it over where you are now. They are all phonies and sycophants.
